Scenic Norfolk Summer Competition

Scenic Norfolk is pleased to announce the two winners of the summer competition. The lucky winners were published in 'Discover Norfolk' - a brand new hard back book celebrating the beauty of our county with fascinating text and stunning photography by Stephen Browning and Daniel Tink, released early 2011.

We wanted to know what it is about Norfolk that you love and here is what the winners had to say:

"I love Norfolk for so many reasons. When I first moved here from London I soon became a single parent. Norfolk has given both my son and I so many opportunities that perhaps may not have been provided for in London. I simply adore the rural villages dotted throughout our North Norfolk Coastline. I love the expanse, wilderness, big skies, freedom and all the wonderful characters that make Norfolk such a great place to live in. I love the many redundant churches, old ruins, castles, museums, fishing villages, the slower pace of life, the ability to breathe non-toxic fumes, etc. Thank you Norfolk for giving me so much."

Sandy Watson, from Aldborough, Norfolk

"Norfolk is a beautiful County offering a lifestyle that most people dream about. The Norfolk Coastline stretches for miles offering sandy beaches and scenic views. You can enjoy the coast and countryside as well as fun and culture in the City of Norwich. Where else would you find paradise? That is why we moved to Norfolk."

Anna Ovenden, from Knapton, Norfolk

This competition is now closed, but we would still love to hear why you love Norfolk, so please click here to send us your quote. We will add all quotes to the website on a dedicated page.

Winter may not appeal to all for a trip to the coast, but if you head to Horsey Beach during January you'll have a fantastic opportunity to get a close look at Grey Seals giving birth to pups right on the beach.

Scenic Norfolk Feedback

It's great hearing your comments and memories for Norfolk places photographed in the galleries. If you spot a place you've visited or live nearby, I would love to hear from you. Comments can be made using the instant feedback form found at the bottom of photo pages. Here's what some of you have had to say so far....

"In the past I have enjoyed a few boating holidays on the Norfolk Broads. This photograph helped jog a few memories of many pleaseant memories of Ranworth. Thank you"

"This spot brings so many memories, the cottage where I was born was just at the bottom of this hill. Does anybody remember Fred Moy the baker with his pony and trap? His horse was kept at the bottom of the hill. Thanks for the memories!"

"Wow, what a gorgeous photograph which perfectly captures a blustery day on the Norfolk coast. Simply beautiful."

"What a lovely experience, travelling on the Poppy Line to Holt on an old steam train from the station at Sheringham."

"A place I visit often with my wife where we meet friends and family, have a drink and a chat or mardle as you might say."

Norfolk Food Heroes
NEW FOR 2011!
Norfolk Food Heroes
by Daniel Tink and Stephen Browning
This book was inspired in no small part by a wander around the Bidwell/EDP Norfolk Food Festival. Here we saw the best organic veggies, duck eggs, pork pies, Aberdeen Angus beefsteaks, artisan breads and cakes, fruits, juices, jams, pickles, butter, cheeses, milks, poultry, honey, lamb and pork, crabs, lobsters and vegetarian wonders. We had the idea of a visit to some of the best of our present generation of food specialists. There were so many questions. Armed with a camera and notebook, we set out by car, often times resorting to tramping across tracks and fields, to discover some of the answers. Here, gloriously illustrated by Daniel's photography, is a tribute to all those who specialise in local food production, a snapshot of their lives and work, and their chosen recipes.
